Catherine Elizabeth James

Catherine E. “Katie” James, 94, of Benton Harbor, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020, at Caretel Inns of Lakeland, in St. Joseph. Arrangements have been entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel & Cremation Services. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org. Those wishing to share a memory of Katie may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Katie was born on November 1, 1926 to John A. and Dorothy M. (Stout) Dickson in Zanesville, Ohio. She married Warren E. James on March 10, 1945. Katie was a strong Christian and devoted her life to serving her community through the church. She first joined Norval Park Church of Christ in Zanesville and then Church of Christ in St. Joseph. Katie is survived by her children, Terry (Maggie) James of St. Joseph and Karen (Daniel) Lord of Prattville, AL; 5 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Wayne (Marsha) Dickson, Ruth Wagner, and Rhonda Shockley. Katie was preceded in death by her parents, John and Dorothy; husband, Warren; and siblings, John, Robert, Alan, Jerry, Rickie, David, Carol, Warren, and Dottie.
