Beverly's Obituary

Beverly “Bev” (Linn) Hollowell, 85, of St. Joseph, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2020, at Woodland Terrace in Bridgman. Bev was born December 24, 1934, to Frederick and Dolores (King) Rahn in Benton Harbor, MI, and graduated from Benton Harbor High School. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the University of Michigan, where she met her first husband, Dr. Frank Linn. The couple married in 1956, and together they raised three children. Bev loved her community and was actively involved. She served on the Benton Township Planning Commission and the St. Joseph School Board, and was also active in many other community organizations. In her free time Bev loved to play tennis and became the very first member of the South Shore Racquet Club. One of Bev’s greatest passions was antiques. She was an avid collector of fine furniture and housewares and served as president of her local Questers chapter. Her research eventually led to a career as a professional appraiser and owner of Bev Linn Sales, which for many years ran popular estate sales in Southwest Michigan. In 1993, Bev married Thomas Hollowell at First Congregational Church in St. Joseph. They enjoyed traveling, sailing, vacationing in Florida, and building a new home together. Bev also enjoyed being active at church, always looking forward to heading up the Boutique for the rummage sales. She was always available to lend her nursing skills to dear friends and helped bring Hospice to Berrien County. Her true joy came from her family, especially spending time with her grandchildren. Bev was a very active Nana, joining in on many vacations, school activities and loving every minute. Bev is survived by her siblings, Dr. William (Wendy) Rahn, Nancy (Jack) Ross and Margaret (Norm) Pierson; children, Frank (Karen) Linn Jr., Nancy (Thomas) Fowler, and Christopher (Tricia Kellison) Linn; and stepchildren, Karen (Douglas) Meyers, Thomas (Tone) Hollowell Jr., Douglas (Alison) Hollowell, and Scot Hollowell. Also surviving are seventeen grandchildren, Kara, Andrew, Scott, Linny, David, Emily, Freddy, Joey, Katherine, Jacob, Lucas (Caitlyn), Per Thomas (Martina), Christian (Annie), William, Megan, Emma, and Prescot Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Gwendolyn McEwen, her first husband, Frank Linn, and her husband, Thomas Hollowell. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 11AM, at First Congregational Church, 2001 Niles Ave., St. Joseph. Memorial donations may be made to Caring Circle, 4025 Health Park Ln., St. Joseph, or to First Congregational Church, 2001 Niles Ave., St. Joseph.
