Michael Lynn “Big Mike” Johnson, 59, of Benton Harbor, passed away, Monday, November 23, 2020 at Spectrum Health Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. A Celebration of Home Going Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 11, 2020, at The Ark of the Covenant Church, 848 Buss Ave., Benton Harbor, with Pastor Roy Askew, Sr. officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Starks & Menchinger Chapel, St. Joseph. Memorial donations in Michael’s name may be made to the Family, c/o Regina Johnson. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School, Class of 1979. After high school, Michael served his country in the US Army. Michael was previously employed at Coloma Frozen Foods as a Fork Lift Operator, and attended Blue Roof Church in St. Joseph. Michael is survived by his siblings-Jerome (Venita) Martin of Ohio, James Johnson of Benton Harbor, Debra Johnson of Georgia, Regina Johnson & Irma Johnson, both of Benton Harbor, Antoine Johnson of Wisconsin; his former wife Lavern Doss; step-children-Shanette & Jeanette Simms of Tennessee, Felix Simms of MI, Darnell & Nicole Simms, both of Kentucky, Patrick Simms & LaMont Lockhart both of Tennessee; three step-brothers; four step-sisters; two Aunts-Hazel (Joe) Griffin & Margaret Batiest both of Benton Harbor and a host of nieces & nephews and other extended family. Michael was preceded in death by his parents, his maternal grandparents-Walter & Ruthie Martin, & his paternal grandparents-Willie & Mary Johnson.
