Thaddeus's Obituary

Thaddeus R. “Russ” Stephens, Jr. Thaddeus Stephens passed away on Friday, December 4, 2020 at the age of 70. Russ was born July 5, 1950 to the late Thaddeus R. Stephens, Sr. and the late Charlotte (Hansen) Stephens and grew up in Buchanan, Michigan. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert A. Larson. He is survived by a brother Conrad A. (Mary Beth) Larson of Buchanan, a nephew, Robert E. (Angela) Larson of Phoenix, Arizona, nieces Pamela L. Johnson of Downers Grove, Illinois, and Lisa (Andrew) Furuta of Honolulu, Hawaii, a sister-in-law Judith Larson of Anchorage, Alaska, four great nieces, one great nephew, and many cousins. The family wishes to recognize Russ’s dear friends Steve and Carol Jackson and Joe and Alice Kring. They are very grateful to the ICU staff at Lakeland Hospital of Niles and Caring Circle of Niles for their generous care. Russ was an Eagle scout and graduated from Buchanan High School. He also graduated from Trine University as an engineer. He worked for many years and retired from AEP’s Cook Nuclear Plant. Russ was active for years in many organizations including Chairman of the board of the Buchanan Senior Center, treasurer of the Buchanan Lions Club, treasurer of Chamber of Commerce, and treasurer of the Trail Committee. Due to the Covid virus there will be a private burial service and a celebration of life service at a later date.
