LeRoy Coburn

LeRoy Coburn, 92, of Michigan City, IN and Lakeland, FL, passed away on Saturday-November 28, 2020. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel – 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI. LeRoy was born in Michigan City, IN on June 16, 1928 to the late Ora and May (Spellman) Coburn. He served his country during WWII while in the U.S. Navy. His working career included time at Budd Co. in Gary, IN, Pullman Standard in Michigan City, IN and most recent at the New Buffalo Drug Store. He was an avid golfer, having still golfed several times a week at age 89. LeRoy also enjoyed singing. He is survived by three sons – James (Chris) Coburn of Michigan City, IN, David (Clare) Busse of Imperial Beach, CA and Fred (Kim) Busse of Barrington, IL; six grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and a sister – Lucille Tryon of Michigan City, IN. Preceding LeRoy in death are wives Ellen and Lorraine; son – LeRoy, Jr; daughters – Linda and Mary; brothers – William and John; and a sister – Mary. A Celebration of Life service will take place on Friday-December 4, 12noon, at the Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo, with Pastor Kel Penny officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in New Buffalo. Visitation precedes the service at the funeral home from 10:30am-12noon.
