William "Dave" Rutherford's Obituary

William “Dave” Rutherford, 72, of Dowagiac, passed away on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at Ascension Borgess Hospital, Kalamazoo. Public visitation will be held from 1-2 pm on Thursday, December 3, 2020, at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. A celebration of life service will follow at 2 pm, also at the funeral home, masks will be required. Burial will follow in Crystal Springs Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of Cande Rutherford to help with final expenses. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Dave was born on October 11, 1948, to John and Beatrice (Waller) Rutherford in Benton Harbor. He honorably served in the Marine Corps., serving two tours in Vietnam. Dave was a member of both the VFW and Moose lodge in Dowagiac. He worked for Whirlpool for many years as an operator and later in life handled taxidermy at his home. Dave loved hunting, socializing, and would do anything for anyone. Most of all, he cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. Dave is survived by his children, Billy Wayne Brooks of Tuscon, AZ., David Wayne (Cande) Rutherford of Benton Harbor, Kari (Robert Hamilton) Pullins of Benton Harbor, Ruby (Jonathon) Jones of Dowagiac and Shannon (Billy) Kinchen of Dowagiac; nineteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and siblings, Brenda Crowder, Martha (Stub) Bailey, Mary Ann Alsup, Sandy Eyerly and special friends, Danny Turner and Mike Napier. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Wanda Rutherford and brothers-in-law, Gary, Bo and Ernest.
