James's Obituary

Jan. 22, 1939 – Nov. 14, 2020 James L. “Jim” Siebenmark, 81, of St. Joseph, passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2020, at Spectrum Health Lakeland. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd, St. Joseph. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the City of St. Joseph Dept. of Public Safety, 700 Broad St., St. Joseph. Those wishing to sign Jim’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Jim was born on January 22, 1939 in New Buffalo to Fred W. & Della (Hamann) Siebenmark. He graduated from New Buffalo High School in 1957. After graduating, Jim proudly served our country by enlisting in the United States Marine Corp. On May 26, 1961, Jim married the love of his life, Betty Beck, in New Buffalo. They were happily married for nearly 59 years before she passed away earlier this year. Once his military duty was completed, Jim began his career as a police officer. He worked for the Berrien County Sherriff’s Dept. for two years, followed by 25 years for the City of St. Joseph Public Safety Dept., and another ten years as a Berrien County Court Officer before retiring. He was a member of The F.O.P. #96 and Three Oaks Masonic Lodge #239. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, riding his bike, and taking walks around town. He also liked watching Western movies and reading, especially about military history. What Jim loved the most, however, was spending time with his grandchildren. Jim is survived by his children, Susan (Ed) Johnson of Cincinnati, OH, and Michael (Kevin West) Siebenmark of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Nicholas (Sarah), Alexander, Jack and Ellie Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Fred & Della; loving wife, Betty; and siblings, Ray, Dale, and Gene Siebenmark, and Carol Fellows.
