Joseph Waldo Dick, 84, of Decatur, passed away Sunday, November 15, 2020 at his home in Decatur. The family will receive guests from 5-7pm, Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Newell Chapel, 83313 M51, Decatur. A service will be held privately for the family on Thursday, November 19, 2020 with a burial to follow at Hamilton Cemetery, Decatur. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Decatur High School Science Dept., or the Holy Family Scholarship Fund. Those wishing to leave an online condolence for the family may do so at www.newellchapel.com. Joseph was born January 26, 1936 at his home in Lawrence, MI to Waldo and Hellen (Fritz) Dick. Joseph graduated from WMU and went on to receive his Master’s Degree in Math from Andrews University. Joe was a dedicated educator, giving 39 years to Decatur High School as a math and science teacher. He also partnered with his son as owner of J&B Dick Orchards in Lawrence. A true man of God, Joe was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church for 60 years. Joe will be remembered for his exceptional work ethic as well as his devotion to his family. Joseph is survived by his wife of 64 years, Joan (Hill) Dick, whom he married August 18, 1956; his children, Bob (Sheri) Dick, Mary (Bob) Furman, Kathie (Scott) Smith, Joe Hill, Jim (Christy) Hill, and Dr. Michael (Sarah) Dickinson; his grandchildren, Robby, Daniel, Brittany, Nicholas, Kelsey, Dorothy, Margaret, J.J., and Katie; his great grandchildren, Florence, and Tilly; and his siblings, Mary Dick, and John (Joske) Dick. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to Dr. Dale Shepard of the Cleveland Clinic, as well as to Joe’s son, Dr. Michael Dickinson, for their continued care of Joe throughout the years.
