Dorothy J. Campbell, 76, of Benton Harbor, passed away on Monday, November 9, 2020 at Spectrum Health Lakeland. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, November 20, 2020 at 11 AM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, with Pastor Samuel Dickerson, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow at Crystal Springs Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Out of respect for the family and guests in attendance masks and proper social distancing will be required. Dorothy was born on January 11, 1944, in Memphis, TN, to Gilbert & Amanda (Franklin) Dickerson. She graduated from Taylor Business Institute in New York. She worked for Key Foods in Baldwin, NY as their bookkeeper and manager for nearly 20 years. On October 4, 1961, Dorothy married Bobby Campbell in Benton Harbor. She enjoyed reading romance novels, playing bingo, and watching Tiger Woods & Serena Williams on TV. However, what Dorothy loved the most was spending time with her family. Dorothy is survived by her children, Bridgette (Lonnie) Butler, Debbra Dickerson, Bobby Campbell, Doris (Kim) Simeona, Carolyn Campbell, and La’Keisha Campbell; grandchildren, Anthony, La-quan, Lonnie Jr., Corey, Dorkim, Kimesha, Kenya, Jurnee, Imani, Ronnie Jr., and Laia; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Erma Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert & Amanda; husband, Bobby; and siblings, Violet Dotson, John, Oscar, Olivia, Jesse, Velma, Ernest, Samuel Sr. Dickerson.
