Oscar's Obituary

Oscar Ranzinger, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2020 in Goshen, IN. He is survived by his children; Corinne Van Arsdale, Dr. Mark Ranzinger, Yvonne Ranzinger, Melonee Patterson & Rachelle Hartkopf; Grandchildren, Brent & Trevor Jones, Andrew, Abri & Elliott (deceased) Ranzinger, Aidan & Kiera Patterson & Alena Hartkopf and his Sister Elfreda Hordosch (Austria). He was born in Voitsberg, Austria on November 25, 1931 to Alois Ranzinger & Filomena (Jakes). He immigrated to Windsor, Canada in 1951 and eventually moved to Detroit in 1956 as a tool & die maker. He met his wife, Donna, at a church roller skating event and they were married January 1,1958 in Detroit, MI. Oscar loved his family, his church, and his friends. He was a faithful member at the Detroit Metropolitan SDA Church for years as a church elder and later at the Waterford SDA Church where he enjoyed serving the Lord. He loved wildlife, especially birds, but also the many cats and dogs and other pets he got for his kids. He had a special connection to animals and they all seemed to know that. He is remembered for his love of his cats, soccer, his tools, and motorcycles. He enjoyed his work as a tool & die maker for years in the automotive industry but moved with Donna to North Carolina for 11 years to enjoy retirement. As aging issues arose, they moved to Berrien Springs, MI. After Donna’s death in 2019 he moved in with Mark & Tina Ranzinger in Goshen, IN where he enjoyed time with family and his cat Mitzi. We look forward to the day when we will meet again in heaven. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Audubon Society (Audubon.org). Due to current circumstances, a private family memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 8th.
