Maria's Obituary

Maria Gasca, 90, of Decatur, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 11:00 AM, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 63559 60th Ave, Hartford, MI with Fr. German Perez-Diaz officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery in Decatur. Visitation will be Friday from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Newell Chapel, 83313 M-51 Decatur. Friends wishing to leave a condolence may do it at www.newellchapel.com. Maria was born April 20, 1930, in Salamanca, GTO, Mexico to Leonardo and Maria (Rodriguez) Gonzalez. On December 19, 1948, she married the love of her life Jose’ Gasca in Mexico. From that unity, her and her husband had 17 children that she was proud of. Maria enjoyed spending time in her flower garden and bird watching. She was known for her wonderful cooking and always wanting to cook her family’s favorite meals, and would often cook several different meals so everyone had their favorite. She was known as a wise, brave, strong and hardworking mom. Maria loved her large family more than anything. She was very proud of the fact that it was published in the local newspaper how blessed she was with such a sizeable family tree. She was quoted, “I have my health and all my kids around me. God has given me more than enough, more than I deserve.” She will be greatly missed by her family and all that knew her. Maria is survived by her loving husband, Jose’ Gasca; children, Jesus (Enriqueta) Gasca, Asuncion “Chata” (Miguel) Rosales, Francisco (Maria) Gasca, Carmela (Luis) Mancera, Elena (Guadalupe) Hernandez, Felipe (Elena) Gasca, Juan (Elsa) Gasca, Jose Luis (Mari) Gasca, Luis (Patricia) Gasca, Arturo Gasca, Josefina (Ignacio) Cano, Cristina (Efrain) Razo, Guadalupe Rios, Ana (Jose’) Mendez and Sergio Gasca. 75 grandchildren; and 124 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 infant children; grandchildren, Christina Gasca and Pablo Luis Gasca; great-grandson, Alejandro Rosales; 6 siblings and son-in-law Pedro Rios.
