Jeffrey Pitula

Jeffrey A. “Jeff” Pitula, 50, of Decatur, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2020, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, September 11, 2020 at 6:00PM at Newell Chapel Funeral Home, 83313 M-51, Decatur with Pastor James Abshagen officiating. Jeff was born October 6, 1969, in Paw Paw to Roman and Darlene (Ruple) Pitula. He graduated from Decatur High School in 1988. Jeff enjoyed working on cars and was a self-taught auto-mechanic for many years. Later in life he became a home health aid and took care of his mother-in-law. He was known as an easygoing and happy-go-lucky guy who would give his shirt off his back to anyone who needed it. Jeff enjoyed sports and was an avid Chicago Bears and Notre Dame fan. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing horseshoes. Most of all he loved his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Jeff is survived by his son, Lance Pitula; sister, Jody (Ken) Kirby; nephews, Dale Parish, Jr., Jason Karasch and Nick Karasch; niece, Kaley Parish; cousins, Jessie Burcham and Ami File; aunt, Betty Ruple; former wife, Ann Parish; mother-in-law, Rita Parish and numerous friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Roman and Darlene Pitula.
