Ronald “Da Barber” Hathcock, 76, of Stevensville, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 31, 2020 at Woodland Terrace, Bridgman. He was born January 25, 1944 in Buchanan, MI, to Lloyd and Helen (Crawford) Hathcock. A graveside celebration of life will be held at 2:30pm, Friday, September 4, 2020 at Lincoln Township Cemetery, Stevensville. Memorial contributions may be given to Caring Circle Hospice, www.spectrumhealthlakeland.org/caring-circle. Ronald “Da Barber” was the proud owner and operator of Stevensville Barber Shop for over 40 years. He was a graduate of Berrien Springs High School, class of 1962. Ron met and married Deatra Arter on April 24, 1965 in Eau Claire, MI. Despite not being able to swim, he was an avid boater, and enjoyed fishing and hunting in the warmer months, and ice fishing in the winter. His favorite time was spent with his wife, traveling, camping and cruising. Ron is survived by his nieces and nephews, Susan (David) Puckett, Cindy (Greg) Mahler, and Bruce (Pat) Arter; his grand nieces and nephews, Eric Mahler, Brett Arter, Gretchen (Jason) Ensink, and Ali (Ben) Isbrecht; and his great grand nieces and nephews, Hudson and Ava Ensink, and Emory, Lexi, and Milo Isbrecht. He is preceded in death by his wife, Deatra Hathcock; his son, Richard Owen Hathcock; and his sister, Mary Elaine Arent. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Holly, Ron’s caregiver; as well as the staff at Woodland Terrace for their care over the last three years.
