Marvella E. Verran

Marvella E. Verran, 90, of Decatur, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 26, 2020 at Cass County Medical Center in Cassopolis. A celebration of life graveside service will be held at 1pm, Sunday, August 9, 2020 at Lakeside Cemetery, Decatur. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the VFW, 560 N. Marvella was born on May 13, 1930 in West Frankfort, IL to Robert and Lula (Lacey) Elliott. On August 19, 1949 she married the love of her life, Willard Verran. They lived in Chicago until 1987 before moving to Decatur. Marvella was happiest surrounded by her friends and family. She enjoyed cooking, good food and trying new recipes. During retirement, Marvella and Willard enjoyed “day dates”; they would spend time shopping, going to the casino, and dinners out. It was something they always looked forward to. Among many things, Marvella especially enjoyed antique cars, music, reading, trivia and old movies. Marvella will be missed by her children, Michael (Kari) Verran, and Robyn Barr; her grandchildren, Kevin (Stephanie) Wiles, Heather (Stephen Rajzer) Verran, Jason (Kelsey) Verran, Brandon (Whitney Henley) Wiles, Shawn Barr, Jr., Kristy Verran, and Kelsey Verran; her great grandchildren, David Wiles, Kevin Wiles, Claira Wiles, Zoella Barr, Aaliyah Verran, and Derek Wiles; many nieces and nephews; and her sister-in-law, Jeanne Elliott. She is preceded in death by her husband, Willard; her son, John Verran; her brother, Donald Elliott; and her parents.
