Elizabeth's Obituary

Elizabeth Adent Tomaszewski, 89, of St. Joseph entered into eternal life peacefully on Thursday, July 30, 2020. Elizabeth was born on September 26th 1930 in Chicago, Illinois a twin daughter of Alphonse and Lucille Adent. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Catholic School, Class of 1948. Her passion for teaching led her to Western Michigan University where she earned her Master’s Degree in Education. Her long career in teaching allowed her to touch the lives of so many students. On June 4th, 1992, she retired from Lakeshore Public Schools. Her retirement allowed her the time to enjoy her other passions, reading from her “wall of books”, knitting, cross-stitch, quilting and enjoying her family. Elizabeth and her husband Edward Tomaszewski celebrated 51 years of marriage before his passing. And proudly raised their seven children together. Elizabeth is survived by her children - Ken (Kathy) Tomaszewski, Chris (Duane) Tilly, Jerry Tomaszewski, Judi Perry, Mike (Debbie) Tomaszewski, Ted (Cheryl) Tomaszewski and Becky Tomaszewski; fourteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; her sisters, Sheila (Sam) Bavido and Bernadette (Sam) Caropepe; and brother, Jim (Mary Ann) Adent. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, her twin sister and her husband- Connie and Phil Nuccio, and her grandson Adam Tilly. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 AM Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 211 Church Street, St. Joseph with Fr. Thomas McNally officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Friends may visit with the family beginning at 9:00 AM Tuesday at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph.
