Ronald Duane Sortland, 75, of St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at Spectrum Lakeland Hospital, St. Joseph. Ron was born October 28, 1944 in Williston, ND to Magnus and Mabel (Elvik) Sortland. Ron was a proud veteran, who served his country in the Army during the Vietnam War. He met and fell in love with Virginia Sentillas. They were married June 17, 2001 in St. Joseph. Ron was a talented drum player, who played for a band. He owned a bar called the Idle Hour in Ruston, Washington. His biggest passion was his love for cars. He also enjoyed travelling in his free time and led an active life that involved driving around and exercising. Among his passions, he had many friends and was known to be an entertainer and a social man. He was a past member of the Benton Harbor American Legion. Before retirement, Ron worked at Deals on Wheels as a sales/finance person. Ron is survived by his wife, Virginia Sortland; his children, Justin Sortland, Jason Sortland, Joshua Sortland, Shawn Sortland, Matthew Sortland, Michael Sortland, and Amanda Sortland. Private cremation services have taken place.
