Dorothy Lorraine Spitzke

Dorothy L. Spitzke, 92, of Baroda, passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2020. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2020, at 1PM, at Ruggles Cemetery in Baroda. A Celebration of Life Service will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church, 9193 Cleveland Ave., Baroda. Dorothy was born on December 21, 1927, to Clarence & Anna (Trapp) Kolberg in Baroda. She attended New Troy High School. On May 24, 1947, Dorothy married the love of her life Arnold Spitzke at St. Johns Evangelical Lutheran Church where they remained lifetime members. Together they loved to Polka Dance and they followed their favorite Polka Band, The Sorgenbrecher Band, all over Europe. Dorothy always had a well kept home, whether that be inside or out. She enjoyed keeping a beautiful garden where she would grow and can vegetables. Dorothy loved traveling with her husband on their winter trips to Corpus Christi, TX in their camper. Her most treasured time was when she was spending it with her family. Dorothy is survived by her son, Donald (Jeanne) Spitzke of Baroda; grandchildren Angela (Jeremy) Slater of Portage, Matthew (Andrea) Spitzke of Niles, Andrew Spitzke of Bridgman, Joseph (Marie) Plumley of Georgia, Jennifer (Kyle) Simms of Georgia, Crystal (Travis) Cromer of Georgia, Daniel (Crystal) Kitts of Georgia and Tim (Stormy) Kitts of Georgia; and 13 great-grandchildren. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence & Anna Kolberg; husband, Arnold Spitzke; daughters, Judy Spitzke Plumley and Sandra Spitzke; and brothers, Herman, Elmer, Donald, Albert and Leonard Kolberg.
