Christine Sue “Chris” Glendening, 66, of St. Joseph, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital – Chicago. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 from 5:30PM to 8:00PM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Road, St. Joseph. Out of concern for all in attendance, we ask everyone to please wear a mask, if able, and be cautious of maintaining proper social distancing. For the safety of the family they will not be present, however, they would like you to come in to pay your respects to Chris and sign the guest book. Those wishing to leave an online condolence, memory, or have a story to share, may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Memorial contributions may be made to Lake Michigan Catholic Schools. A private Mass of Christian Burial Service will be held on Thursday, July 16, at 10:30AM, at St. Joseph Catholic Church and will be livestreamed at this link, https://tinyurl.com/chrisfuneral">https://tinyurl.com/chrisfuneral</a>. The service will also be broadcast on Station 88.3 FM in the church parking lot. Burial will follow the service at Riverview Cemetery. Anyone interested in participating in the procession from the church to the cemetery is welcome to join in by lining up your vehicle at the church. While the family recognizes that she has touched many lives and know that many people would like to pay their respects, Chris and her family’s wish is to be protective of everyone’s safety. Once you arrive at the cemetery, we ask everyone maintain proper social distancing. Chris was born on July 19, 1953, to Edward & Virginia (Kalka) Jaskiewicz, in St. Joseph. She attended Lake Michigan Catholic Schools, graduating in 1971. She continued her education at Western Michigan University. On January 4, 1975, Chris married the love of her life, Larry Glendening, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Chris was a proud lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was employed for many years as the Development Director for Lake Michigan Catholic Schools. She enjoyed tending to her flower garden, baking and cooking delicious meals and treats for her family. However, what gave Chris the most joy was her grandchildren; being around them gave her the biggest smile. Chris was an incredible woman, who had a heart of gold and will truly be missed by all who knew her. Chris is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Larry; sons, Allan & Bryan (Amber) Glendening both of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Katelyn & Allison; and sisters, Marcia (Vern) Shoff, Roberta (William) Wagner & Cindy Birk. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward & Virginia; and brother-in-law, Michael Birk.
