Thelma Lorraine McCune

Thelma L. McCune, 90, of Edwardsburg, formerly Galien, passed away on Thursday, July 2, 2020, at home, with her family by her side. A celebration of life service will be held at noon on Monday, July 6, 2020 at Swem Chapel, 301 W. Front St., Buchanan, with Pastor Dan Peterson officiating. Burial will follow in Galien Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:30-noon prior to the service Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Caring Circle Hospice, 4025 Health Park Lane, St. Joseph, MI. Those wishing to send a condolence online may do so at www.swemchapel.com. Thelma was born on November 26, 1929, to George and Julia (Koromi) DeShong in Point Marion, PA. On November 18, 1948, she married Thomas McCune, Sr., in Warriors Mark, PA. Thelma was an advocate for Meals on Wheels and volunteered for many years. She enjoyed tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, sewing and antiques. Thelma was a member of the Historical Society in Galien. Most of all, she cherished time spent with her family and loved hosting special events. Thelma is survived by her children, Robin (Paul) Hampton of Edwardsburg and Patrick McCune of South Bend; grandchildren, Holly McCune-Smith of Valparaiso, IN, Jamie (E.J.) Mastandrea of Portage, IN, Daniel (Alyssa) McCune of Conroe, TX, Eric Hampton of Daphne, AL, Sarah Beadenkopf of Jackson, MI, Jennifer (Jake) Sawle of Jackson, MI, Blaine McCune of South Bend and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Julia DeShong; husband of fifty-five years, Thomas McCune, Sr.; son, Thomas McCune, Jr and brothers, George, Raymond and John Robert.
