Robert's Obituary

Robert E. “Bob” Krueger, 81, of Decatur, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 26, 2020. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date with burial following at Lakeside Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to The Decatur VFW Post #6248, 560 N Phelps St, Decatur, MI 49045. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.newellchapel.com. Bob was born on March 3, 1939 in Cicero, IL, to Ignatius & Helen (Witkowski) Krueger. In 1956, he graduated from J. Sterling Morton High School where he played football and baseball. Bob continued his education by attending Morton Junior College. Bob proudly served our country by enlisting in the United States Army. He fought in Korea and was honorably discharged. On August 23, 1974 Bob married the love of his life, Marcia Vliek, in Decatur. Bob worked at Bendix for over 30 years until he retired. Another large part of Bob’s life was his farm. He loved tending to his cattle and hogs and harvesting his soybeans and corn. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing, and watching black and white cowboy movies. In his spare time Bob liked tinkering with items around his house and farm and socializing with friends at the VFW. Bob was a wonderful man who, while being very vocal himself, would always put others needs before his own. Bob will be missed by all who knew him. Bob is survived by his loving wife of nearly 47 years, Marcia; children, Kevin (Trina) Christensen and Kyle (Sandi) Christensen, both of Decatur and Leighann (Chris) Mitchell of Mt Juliet, TN; grandchildren, Mike, Danielle, Shelby, Jordan, Michael, and Blake; great-grandchildren, Maddy, Noel, Theo, and Waverly; brother, Iggy Krueger; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Ignatius and Helen; and brothers, Arthur, Stosh, and Sylvester Krueger.
