Rosine L. Long

Rosine Lucillia (Corey) Long (March 18, 1933 – June 18, 2020) Rosine was raised in a Christian home that centered on service to the Lord Jesus Christ. She graduated from Lima South High School as Valedictorian (Lima, Ohio), and graduated With Honors from Ft. Wayne Bible College (Ft. Wayne, Indiana). Consistent with her training for a life of Christian Ministry, she married Charles J. Long and supported him throughout her life in church ministries in Missouri, Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan. She committed unselfishly to teaching, musical productions and music ministry with both adults and children, Bible School, and led in many roles with the Women’s Missionary Society, church boards, Christian Education, and support to Youth Ministries. Further, her flannelgraph Bible School stories are legendary and are one of the best parts of my childhood. She created her own masterpieces showing palaces and gardens to illustrate the Bible story. She was a hero to her immediate and extended family, as well as church family. Her personal interests included music, art, knitting or crocheting, and reading. She did illustrate a book that was published; and also did oil paintings for income. All those interests took a back seat with the birth of her grandchildren which she doted on for years and years. She helped create a train set background for the pleasure of the grandchildren, and found great joy attending sporting events of the grandchildren. Her gentle and loving spirit is an inspiration to us all. Rosine was preceded in death by her husband (Rev. Charles J. Long), her parents (Sue and Alvah Corey), a sister (Patti Buggs); and sister-in-law (Carolyn “Chick” Corey); and brother-in-law (Don Mumaugh). She is survived by her children, Charles D. Long (Sara); Cheryl Hosey (Darrell); and Cindy Roeder (David); and grandchildren, Brad Long (Vanessa); Kristi Karel (Matt); as well as great-grandchildren, loving extended family, including her Uncle Lewis Allendorph (Annie) and all the Allendorph family, as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Of note, she never received a paycheck for all of the church ministry. Her name did not appear in State Ministry Rosters or any of the states in which she served. There were no GoFundMe accounts. But her service was one of integrity, love, and sacrifice for the Glory of God’s Kingdom – and her reception in Heaven was most assuredly a High Moment and Celebrated Event. She continued to have the Joy of the Lord in her heart to the day she passed peacefully from this life to the Glory and Splendor of Heaven and re-uniting with her family and the Lord Jesus Christ on those beautiful shores. Her life was a blessing and those who knew her best were truly Honored to Share in Her Life. She is loved and will be in the hearts of those she touched forever. (Tribute submitted by Cheryl Hosey).
