Imogene's Obituary

Imogene (Jones) “Gene” Heminger, 74, of Buchanan, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2020 at Spectrum Health, Grand Rapids. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 pm on Monday, June 15, 2020, at Swem Chapel, 301 W. Front St., Buchanan. Burial will follow in New Troy Cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service, from 11-1 also at the funeral home. The service and visitation are open to the public, there will be a sanitizing station and surgical masks available if desired for your comfort and safety. Gene was born on May 17, 1946 to James and Arinda Jones in Truman, AR. She graduated from New Troy High School in 1964. On March 28, 1966, she married Ronald D. Heminger. Through the years Gene worked as an EMT in New Buffalo, Gateway in Berrien Springs where she assembled seatbelts, ran a home daycare for many years and worked with her sister in adult foster care. Gene enjoyed gardening, embroidering, reading, coloring and going shopping with her best friend of many years, Pauline. Gene is survived by her granddaughter, Tiffany A. Heminger; great-granddaughters, Chyann, Gracelynn and Brooklynn; step-granddaughter, Nicole Myers; step-grandson Dalton, all of Buchanan; many nieces nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Arinda Jones; husband of over fifty years, Ronald D. Heminger; son, Ronald W. Heminger; sisters, Lorene Qualls, Pauline Axton, Melba Lou Grojean, Betty Dickinson and Earlene Heason.
