Sheril Edward Johnson

Sheril E. “Buddy” Johnson, 86, of Niles, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2020, at his home. A celebration of life service will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2020, at 2PM, at Heritage Chapel, 8747 US 31, Berrien Springs, with Pastor Starley Baker officiating. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 1:30 until time of service. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.heritage-chapel.com. Buddy was born on November 17, 1933, to Bert & Lula (Rose) in Peachtree, MO. On February 5, 1955, he married the love of his life Betty Jean Loggins in South Bend. He worked for Bendix as a Machine Mechanic before his retirement in 1983. Together they helped with the Bus Ministry’s for Grace Brethren Church in Berrien Springs. Buddy loved to go to garage sales and find good deals. He also enjoyed working on lawn mowers where he would fix and resell the mowers. Buddy is survived by his wife of 66 years, Betty Jean Johnson of Niles; children, Shirley (Len) Welsh of Caruthersville, MO, Sherry (Rick) Nutt of Escanaba, MI, Roger (Lonna) Johnson of Berrien Springs, Sheila (Kyle) Sanborn of North Augusta, SC, Jon (Marcia) Johnson of Berrien Springs; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother; and four sisters. Buddy was preceded in death by his parents, Bert & Lula Johnson; son Tim Johnson; and brothers.
