John Isom Wade

John Isom Wade, Sr., 76, of Benton Harbor, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2020, at Spectrum Lakeland Health. A celebration of home going graveside service will take place on Friday, June 5 at 11 AM at Crystal Springs Cemetery in Benton Harbor. Friends may visit with the family Thursday, June 4, from 5 PM until 8 PM at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph. To allow for proper social distancing there will be a limit of the number of people that will be allowed in the funeral home at a time. John was born on June 6, 1943, in Trenton, TN, to Deloach, Sr. & Lelar (White) Wade. He graduated from Rosenwald High School in 1961. On April 15, 1965, John married the love of his life, Beulah Robertson, in Benton Harbor. John began working in the field of auto specialties before he transitioned to working with Benton Harbor Area Schools as a school bus driver. After many years with the school district, John changed careers and began working at Bosch as an Iron Pourer. He worked there for over 25 years before he retired. John was a proud member of The King Darius Masonic Lodge and Union Memorial AME Church, where he also sang in the men’s chorus. John also enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing cards and singing karaoke. Most of all, John loved spending time with his family. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchild meant the world to him, especially his great-granddaughter Peyton Naomi, they were the best of friends. John is survived by his loving wife, Beulah; children, Latonyia, John, Jr., Matthew (Lateka), Gideon Wade and Olivia (Timothy) Nichols; grandchildren, Simeon, AnTonyia, Lydia and Monica Wade; great-granddaughter, Peyton Naomi Thompson; siblings, William (Aretha) Wade, Vera Threatt, Vernon (Mary) Wade, and Silvia Lawson; sister-in-law, May Wade; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. John was preceded in death by his parents, Deloach Sr. & Lelar Wade; children, Naaman and James Wade; and siblings, Ruby Ruffin, Deloach, Jr., Arzie and Oliver Wade.
