Thomas's Obituary

Thomas “Tom” White, 84, of Dowagiac, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. A Celebration of Life Service will be held graveside on Friday, June 5, 2020, at 2:00 PM, at Riverside Cemetery with Pastor Tom Bird officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Hospice (Caring Circle of Lakeland). Those wishing to leave a message of condolence for the family may do so at www.clarkch.com. Tom was born April 11, 1936, in Dowagiac, to Frank G. & Mary (Finch) White. He was a graduate of Dowagiac High School, Class of 1954. Tom proudly served in the United States National Guard. On August 1, 1959, he married the love of his life, Bev Moore, and they built a life together in Dowagiac, raising their two daughters, Cindy and Laurie. Tom loved spending time with his family, they enjoyed weekends together in Ludington MI, family bike rides, and country drives. Tom had a love for the outdoors and nature, he was an avid fisherman and hunter. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling and golfing. He was a longtime member of the Dowagiac Elks Lodge 889 (Past Exalted Ruler). Tom never met a stranger he couldn’t strike up a conversation with. Most of all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren who were the light of his life. He was always there to support them in everything they did, he never missed a sports game, and was their biggest fan. Tom will be greatly missed by all who knew him, including many longtime friends and neighbors. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Bev White; daughters, Cindy (Steve) Tomczak of Dowagiac and Laurie (Jim) Miller of Marcellus; granddaughters, Amy (Ben) Iliff, Kelly (Corey) Price, Jami (Brian) Swihart, and Beth (Evan) Bressler; great-grandchildren, Harrison and Maddox Iliff, Mckenzie and Maddie Price, Kyli Swihart, and Mason and Chase Bressler. He is also survived by his sister, Nancy (Dr. John) Edleman; nephew and nieces, John Jr., Mari, Heidi, and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Daniel White.
