Carolyn Ruth Ziemer, 95, of St. Joseph, passed away, Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at Whitcomb Tower where she most recently resided. Private Family Services will be held due to the Covid-19 precautions. Private Burial will take place at Riverview Cemetery, St. Joseph. Memorial donations in Carolyn’s name may be made to Alzheimer’s Association-Great Lakes Chapter-Kalamazoo or Caring Circle Hospice. Those wishing to sign Carolyn’s Memory Book online may do so at www.starks-menchinger.com. Carolyn was born June 14, 1924 in Menasha, Wisconsin to Gustav & Ruth (Rutkoskie) Steinke. The family moved to St. Joseph and she graduated from St. Joseph High School, Class of 1942. On November 3, 1946, she married Ewald Ziemer at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church in Benton Harbor. In addition to being a wife and mother, Carolyn served as the bookkeeper at the family business-E-Z Tool & Engineering in Stevensville. She was an active member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church. In her free time, Carolyn enjoyed tending to her flower gardens around the house. Carolyn is survived by four children-Robert (Jane) Ziemer of Kalamazoo, Thomas (Marcia) Ziemer of Jenison, Karyl Ziemer of Wyoming, MI, Sharon Lieberman of Buffalo Grove, IL; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Ewald on September 1, 1997, her parents, and four siblings-John “Bill” Steinke, James Steinke, Agnes Steinke & Cathryn Steinke.
