Paul's Obituary

Paul David Granigan, 52, of St. Joseph, passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2020, at his home. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Those wishing to celebrate Paul may join the family in procession as we drive by some of his favorite places on the way to Riverview Cemetery for burial. Please arrive at Starks & Menchinger Chapel, 2650 Niles Rd., St. Joseph, on Thursday, April 23, 2020, between 10:15 AM – 11 AM, the procession will begin at 11 AM. The funeral service will be broadcasted through the outdoor speakers at 10:15 AM with Pastor Michael Roth officiating. In respect for social distancing, we ask to please remain in your vehicles while waiting at the funeral home and at the graveside committal service. Since Paul was a proud Michigan State University fan, the family has asked to please wear your green and white and feel free to decorate your car to celebrate Paul and support MSU. Paul was born on January 22, 1968, to Patrick & Suzanne (Edwards) Granigan. He graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1987 where he played football and ran track. He continued his education by attending Western Michigan University where he earned a degree in business in 1996. In March of 2007, Paul began working for Financial Services through Berrien County then later transitioned to becoming the business manager for the Berrien County Sherriff’s Office. Always known for making friends, Paul would be the life of the party. His outgoing nature and heart of gold made it easy for him to meet new people. He loved socializing, especially when he was grilling out and there was tequila or Miller Lite nearby. Paul also loved traveling with his significant other, Buffy DeLong. The two would travel to Mexico to enjoy the tequila paired with spicy food and would go up north to take in the beautiful outdoors. Paul was also a proud member of the St. Joseph Benton Harbor Elks Club 541. Paul is survived by his parents, Patrick and Suzanne of St. Joseph; significant other of 11 years, Buffy DeLong; uncles, John (Cathy Satek) Edwards, Bill (Cathy Clark) Edwards and David (Pat) Edwards; cousins, Hilliary & Ben Edwards; brothers-in-law, Scooter DeLong & Chip DeLong; mother-in-law, Nancy DeLong; best friend, Eric Etter; and loving fur babies, Clyde & Louie (formally Chloe & Lola, but then realized they were male cats).
