Basil “Dirk” Carlisle, 63, of Three Oaks, MI, passed away on March 25, 2020 at the Munster Community Hospital in Munster, IN. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo, MI. Dirk was born on May 15, 1956 in Jackson, MI to the late Basil and Sandra (VanDassel) Carlisle. He graduated from Northwest High School in 1974. Dirk worked for the Miller Brewing Co. many years before relocating to Three Oaks in 1989. He was employed by Messer Gases, formerly known as Linde Gasses, for 26 years as a driver and dispatcher. Over the years he won many safety awards and drove over four million miles. Dirk was an animal lover and he and his wife Robin rescued many animals, got them healthy, and found them good homes. Dirk was also a Bears and Cubs fan at the insistence of his wife. He enjoyed working in his yard and running his snow blower “Godzilla” in the winter. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Dirk is survived by his wife Robin, whom he married in Three Oaks in 1996; a step-son Craig Buelow of Three Oaks; sisters-Shelly (Barry) Weeks of Pleasant Lake, MI and Jody (Ron) Weeks of Brooklyn, MI; brother-Shane Carlisle of Rives Junction, MI; nieces-Whitney (Nate) Whitney and Christy Carlisle; nephews-Trevor (Jen) Weeks, Travis Carlisle and Aaron (Carrie) Croci; and great nephews-Wyatt Weeks, twins Titus and Nixon Weeks, and Oak Croci. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Lovers Inc.-18805 S. Schwark Rd., Three Oaks, MI 49128 or to the family.
