Carl's Obituary

Carl L. Kiehn, 76, of Dowagiac, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at his home. Arrangements have been entrusted to Clark Chapel and Cremation Services. Cremation has taken place. A private burial will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions in Carl’s name may be made to the donor’s choice. Those wishing to sign Carl’s Memory Book online may do so at www.clarkch.com. Carl was born November 5, 1943 to Carl and Elsie (Zilke) Kiehn in Benton Harbor. He graduated from Benton Harbor High School in 1961. After high school, Carl went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from Western Michigan University in 1967. On February 25, 2005, he married Beth Heeter-Ross in Valparaiso, Indiana. Carl worked as an industrial engineer for Dow Chemical for 20 years and then AM General for 10 years before his retirement. He was an avid University of Michigan Fan. In his spare time, he enjoyed building and flying model air planes and was the Secretary Treasurer of the Dowagiac Sky Hogs. Most of all he loved his family and will be missed by all who knew him. Carl is survived by his loving wife, Beth Kiehn; children, Karl D. (Maria) Kiehn of Chicago and Stacey Kiehn-Spangler of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Briana Spangler, Kara Spangler and Isaiah Kiehn: siblings, Helen (Ray) Sanders of St. Joseph and Bob Kiehn of Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Karolyn Kiehn, and niece Renee Lange.
