Barbara Jean Shivers

Barbara “Jean” Shivers, of Dowagiac, passed away on Thursday, January 23, 2020, at her home. Jean was born June 1, 1950, to Lee and Ida (Moore) Hibler, Sr. in Dowagiac. She graduated from Dowagiac High School in 1968. On September 7, 1968, she married the love of her life, Robert Shivers in Dowagiac. She worked as a solder at Sunstrand for over 20 years. Later in life, she went on to earn her associates degree in business as a paralegal from Southwestern Michigan College. Jean worked various paralegal jobs until her retirement. She was a devoted Jehovah Witness. Jean had a big heart and always found a way to take care of everyone. Most of all she loved her family, and they always came first. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her. Jean is survived by her sons, Darryl Shivers and Robert Shivers, Jr.; grandchildren, Daria Shivers, Zabrina Shivers and Darryl “Dj” Shivers; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Shivers; and siblings, Beatrice Jackson, Dorothy Thompson and Lee Hibler, Jr. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, January 31, 2020, at Kingdom Hall Jehovah Witness, 30051 M-62. Friends may visit with the family on Friday from 12:00PM until the time of service at the Kingdom Hall.
