Russell Sydney Baker

Russell S. “Russ” Baker, 74, of Dowagiac, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at his home. A celebration of life memorial service will be held at a later date. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.clarkch.com. Russ was born on July 13, 1945, to Robert Lee & Evelyn (Meyers) Baker in Kalamazoo, MI. He graduated from Dowagiac High School. Russ worked as a machine operator. He enjoyed fast cars and motorcycles. Russ was an independent man who was known for his great sense of humor. Most of all, he loved to spend his time with his family and his soulmate Shrilynn Ferguson. Russ is survived by his children, Hollie Baker of Hamilton, OH and Loren Baker; stepchildren, Tamera O’Brien of Dowagiac and Tim (LaTonia) Ferguson of South Bend; grandchildren, Justin, Brent, Brady, Brittany, Timmy and Philip; great-grandchildren, Sylis, Levi, and Rozlynn; siblings, Ralph (Betty) Baker of Dowagiac, Robert (Lupita) Baker of TX, Roger (Rita) Baker of Dowagiac, Reta (Dexter) Winebrenner of IN; and best friend Jim Klett. Russ was preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Evelyn Baker; soulmate Shrilynn Ferguson; and brother Ronald Baker.
