Glen's Obituary

Glen John Rohl, 88, of Decatur, passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 in Paw Paw. He was born March 13, 1931 to Ross Sr. and Matilda (Teifke) Rohl. A committal service with military rites will be held at a later date. Glen was a graduate of Decatur High School, class of 1949. He was a proud Army veteran of the Korean War and a three-time Bronze Star recipient. Glen farmed for many years. He raised hogs. Planted pickles for the nieces and nephews to harvest for spending money. Helped to restart the celery industry in Decatur. Even tried his hand at hydroponic tomatoes. He worked at Eatons, in the trailer industry, and retired from Lyons in Dowagiac. He was a man who had many titles, but most importantly he was “Uncle Glen” to everyone. Always willing to lend a hand, Glen was a very talented handyman; there was nothing he couldn’t build or fix. Glen is survived by his nieces and nephews, Carolyn Sue Ickes, Glenna (the late Bob) Kietzerow, Tammy Ickes, Jim (Marilyn) Rohl, Joe Rohl, Jerri Rohl, Judy Rohl, Janet Rohl, Jon Rohl, Ron (Bonnie) Brewer, and Paula Brewer; many great nieces and nephews; and many great, great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Margaret (Bob) Berndt, Caroline Jane (Lytle) Ickes, Ross (Anna) Rohl, Jr., Pauline (Rolland) Brewer, Fred E. Rohl, and Barbara Rohl; his niece and nephews, John Smith, Bob (Barb) Ickes, and Mary Jane Bolle; and his parents.
