Margaret Waldschmidt

Margaret Waldschmidt., 78, of Dowagiac, passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2020 at her home. A Celebration of Life will be held graveside at 10:00 A.M Monday, January 13, 2020, at Mission Hills Memorial Gardens Chapel, 61453 M-51, Niles. Margaret was born August 12, 1941, in Eau Claire to Raymond and Verl (Prosbt) Pagels. She graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1960. Margaret married Ben Waldschmidt in December of 1990, in Kentucky. She worked for Dowagiac Union Schools as a cook for 17 years, and Ameriwood for 5 years before her retirement. Margaret was a lady of many talents, she could do just about anything. She was known as a great cook and enjoyed canning, gardening, sewing and working hard on the family farm. Margaret loved being outside, and always found joy in mowing the grass, even if it didn’t need to be mowed. Most of all she loved her family and she will be missed by all who knew her. Margaret is survived by her loving husband, Ben Waldschmidt; daughter, Rhonda (Jose) Luna; step-children, Steven Waldschmidt, Susan Cagala, Sherry Thompson, Sharon Suseland and Kevin (Elizabeth) Waldschmidt; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Charlie Pagles and Robert (Maude) Pagles and numerous nieces and Nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Verl Pagles; and her former husband, Frank Waldschmidt.
