Walburga “Walli” Neumeier, 90, of Decatur, passed away on Friday, December 27, 2019, in Kalamazoo after a short illness. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, December 31, 2019, at 11 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 500 W. St. Mary’s St., Decatur, with Father Russell Homic officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family from 10 AM until the time of the service. Those wishing to leave an online condolence may do so at www.newellchapel.com Walli was born on February 23, 1929, in Bad Abbach, Germany to Ludwig & Amalie (Kraus) Kolb. In June 1951, she married the love of her life, Rudolf “Rudy” Neumeier. Sadly, he preceded her in death in December 1985. Shortly after their marriage, they came to America and settled in Illinois. Then in 1956, Walli & Rudy moved to Decatur. Walli was a very talented seamstress; she would make the clothing for her family, sewed for a local clothing store, and would help the community if anyone needed any tailoring. She enjoyed spending time outdoors in her yard and garden. She was a life-long member of Holy Family Catholic Church and a proud member of the German Club, D.A.N.K., since 1966 where she was active in the Ladies Group and the Kitchen Committee. In 1969, Walli became a United States Citizen. She was a kind and wonderful woman who loved her family above all; she will be missed dearly by all who knew her. Walli is survived by her children, Rudy (Bernadette) Neumeier of Kalamazoo, Linda (Rich) Santoni of Kalamazoo, Nancy (Joe) Andrews of St. Joseph, and Diane Neumeier of Decatur; 7 grandchildren, Gretchen, Angela (Mark); Emily (Joel), Erica (Eric), Adam; Joey, Nealie; 2 great-grandchildren, Claudia & Charlotte; siblings, Amalie, Albert, Hans, Mathilde (Hans), Erich (Elfriede) and Alfred (Roswitha); brother-in-law, Hans (Thekla); sister-in-law, Marlene; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Walli was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband; and siblings, Ida, Maria, Ludmilla, Luke and Helga; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sophie and Alton Fisher; brother-in-law, Ted Soenksen; nephews, Mike and Steve Fisher; niece, Mary Soenksen and extended family members in Germany.
