Marie E. Kurgan

Marie E. Kurgan, 37, of Dowagiac, passed away after a tough battle against diabetes on Friday, August 23, 2019, at her home. A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 2 PM at Clark Chapel & Cremation Services, 405 Center St., Dowagiac, MI, with Pastor Tom Bird officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 11AM until the time of the service at the funeral home. A private burial will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to The Diabetes Foundation or The Cass County Animal Shelter. She graduated from Des Plaines Academy. Marie loved listening to all genres of music and reading all types of books. After her eye sight started getting worse and reading became difficult, she enjoyed watching mystery crime tv shows and The Walking Dead. Marie was also an avid Chicago Cubs fan. However, what Marie loved most in her life was her family. Marie is survived by her mother, Marie Liss; step-father, Stanley Liss; sons, Christopher & Nicholas Kurgan; brother, Raymond Kurgan; cousin, Ashley Slovinec; faithful fur-babies, Emmy, Gypsy, and Diesel; and many other family members. She was preceded in death by her father, Ray Kurgan.
