Barbara's Obituary

Barbara A. Luthringer, 86, of Dowagiac, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2019, at her home surrounded by her family. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 14, 2019, at 10:30 AM at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 603 McCleary St., Dowagiac, with Pastor David Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, June 13, 2019, at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St. Dowagiac, from 4:00-8:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Barbara’s name may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church. Those wishing to leave a condolence online may do so at www.clarkch.com. Barbara was born July 7, 1932, in Dowagiac to Melbourne and Amalie “Mollie” (Behnke) Eiman. She graduated from Dowagiac High School in 1950. On August 13, 1955, she married the love of her life, John Luthringer. Together they raised their family at Twin Lakes, northeast of Dowagiac. As a family, the Luthringer’s owned and operated the public beach in the mid 70’s. She was a longtime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dowagiac, of which her grandparents founded. Barbara volunteered at Lee Memorial Hospital for many years. She was on the Wayne Township Election Board and was part of the Red Hat Society. Barbara looked forward to meeting with the lady’s from the Red Hat’s at McDonalds every Monday and Friday morning. In her spare time, she enjoyed traveling with her family and friends. Most of all she loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Barbara is survived by her children, Jerry (Debbie) Luthringer of Dowagiac, John (Shauna) Luthringer of Lakeville, IN, Joseph (Cathy) Luthringer of Cassopolis, Judy Pryor of Climax and Jan (Dave) Nichols of Kalamazoo; grandchildren, Christy Mroczek, Cara Mroczek, Jason Luthringer, Walter Mroczek III, Sarah Rupp, Jennifer Allen, Taylor McIntyre, David Luthringer, Ryan Nichols, Anna Luthringer and Michael Luthringer; 10 great-grandchildren and sister Jerrie Cooke. She was preceded in death by her husband John Luthringer, daughter-in-law Mary K. (Kingman) Luthringer and son-in-law Todd Pryor.
