Steven Andrew Barnes

Steven Andrew Barnes, 53, of Paw Paw, MI, passed away Friday – April 26, 2019. Private family services will be held at a later date. Steven’s final resting place is at Hill Cemetery in Lawrence, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Association, www.jdrf.org. Arrangements have been entrusted to Newell Chapel – Decatur, MI. Steven was born on June 20, 1965 in Paw Paw, MI to William and Carol (Robbins) Barnes. He was a graduate of Paw Paw High School in 1983. Steven received his Associates degree from KVCC. He had diabetes since he was two years old; and recently had dialysis 3 days weekly at the Fresenius Kidney Clinic in Oshtemo, MI – the family wishes to thank all his caregivers at the center. Steven’s career was in plumbing, and he was a member of the Kalamazoo Plumbers and Pipefitter’s Local Union #357. He loved mountain biking and entered many time trails. Steven designed and led the construction of the Dr. TK Lawless Park mountain bike trail for Cass County Parks. He loved gardening at his Uncle Ken and Aunt Judy Barnes farm. Computers and technology were also favorite hobbies. Steven is survived by his Mother – Carol Barnes of Paw Paw; his Sister – Peggy (Roland) Johnson of Lawrence; and several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. He is preceded in death by his father – William Barnes, Jr., and an infant Brother – David.
