Betty Sue Williams (McKinley) (Beneshikwe), who resided in the Pokagon Village of Dowagiac, MI, walked on Saturday, April 20, 2019, at 6:42PM at Hanson Hospice Center in Stevensville, MI.
Betty Sue was born on June 6, 1951, to Frank and Goldie Zella (Cogswell) Williams in Holland, MI. She was known as a very generous person who loved to eat. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time at the casino and doing crafts. Betty Sue was an Elder Citizen of the Pokagon Potawatomi Nation of Dowagiac. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen McKinley; son Stephen McKinley, Jr.; parents, Frank and Goldie Williams; step-father, Stanley Peter Cogswell; sisters, Gertrude Elaine Underwood and Barbara L. Williams; brothers, Barry Allen, Francis Martin and Donald James and step-brother, Robin Bradley. Leaving behind to help her travel through that Western Door are her son, Eric Cowins; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Faye (Arthur) Magnuson, Ruthi (Leonzo) Saldivar, Judith (Mark) Richardson and brother, Roger (Kookoosh) Williams; step-sister, Linda (Bradley Boles) Johnson and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Ceremony will take place at the Pokagon Community Center, 27043 Potawatomi Trail, Dowagiac, MI, (off Dailey Road) on Saturday, May 4 2019, at 12:00PM. Family and friends may visit from 11:00AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family, in care of Roger Williams.
