Barbara Ann Casselman

Barbara Ann Casselman, 88, of New Buffalo, passed away in her home surrounded by her family on Thursday, March 21, 2019. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel – 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI. Barbara was born on Oct. 7, 1930 in Michigan City, IN to the late Ralph and Edna (Stupeck) Moore. She was a 1949 graduate of Saint Mary's High School in Michigan City. Barbara worked as the New Buffalo City Treasurer for many years; and then as the inmate accountant for the Indiana State Prison in Michigan City. She enjoyed sewing and crafting and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. Barbara suffered a stroke in 2016 which left her unable to do many things she formerly did. Barbara is survived by daughters – Trudy (Robert) Schalm of Stevensville, MI and Deborah (James) Maholm of Bloomington, IN; her sons – Timothy and Richard Casselman; grandchildren – Justin (Gretchen) Albertson of Yorkville, IL, Adam (Stephanie) Albertson of Birmingham, MI, and Patrick (Megan) Maholm of Bloomington, IN; great grandchildren – Charlie, Xander, Milena, Annie and Natalie Albertson, and Will and Katie Maholm. She is preceded in death by her husband Vern Casselman in 1969, a daughter Becky Ann Casselman in 2012, a sister Delores and a brother Richard. A visitation with the family is on Monday, March 25, from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo. Private family committal service will be held at Pine Grove Cemetery, New Buffalo, MI.
