James's Obituary
James William Hemminger of 1755 Bakertown Road, Buchanan, MI went home to be with the Lord on June 15, 2017 at the age of 95. He was born on September 12, 1921 to John and Anna S. (Messer) Hemminger in Sterling, IL. He married his wife of 74 years Patricia Ruth Dellinger on July 11, 1942 in Buchanan.
Jim graduated from Buchanan High School in 1939. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II. He graduated from Western Michigan with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics in 1950, and from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1954.
He had a long and successful professional career, starting at the Indiana & Michigan hydroelectric plant in Buchanan, followed by design work and management for Kawneer/AMAX, PPG Industries, and Philips Industries. Jim served on the Galien School Board.
Jim and his wife Pat had five children: Ann, Mike, David, Becky, and Cathy.
Throughout his life, Jim worked as a farmer raising fruits and vegetables, and enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. He and his wife Pat rarely missed watching Notre Dame football games.
Jim was preceded in death by his brothers Bernard of Sterling, IL and Gail of Newport TN, his sister Rita Murphy of Battle Creek, MI, his daughter Annabella Endicott, and his sons James Michael and David Patrick; he was survived by his wife Pat. He is survived by his daughters Rebecca Wilkie and Catherine Franke, six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and his brother Jack of Kenton, MI.
A private interment service will be held at the Galien Township Cemetery.
