Edwin L. Dehne

Edwin L. Dehne, Sr., 92, of New Buffalo, passed away at Woodland Terrace in Bridgman on Mon., Feb. 8, 2016. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo.   Edwin was born on Feb. 11, 1923 in Louisville, KY to the late Ferdinand and Louise (Lorenz) Dehne. He served his country while in the U.S. Army during WWII. On March 6, 1944 in Louisville, KY he married Kathryn Roggenkamp; she preceded him in death on June 18, 2014. Edwin worked as a printer, both at Foster Printing Co. in Michigan City and later at Whirlpool, retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sawyer, MI; and was an avid Cubs fan as well as the Louisville Cardinals and the Kentucky Wildcats.   Edwin is survived by his eight children – Kathryn Kempf of Tampa, FL, Carolyn (Rick) Ghareeb of Union Pier, MI, Anita Mode of Traverse City, MI, Patty (Chris) Allmand of White Pigeon, MI, Debbie (Bob) Skalecki of Bridgman, MI, Janice (Tom) Krycka of Three Oaks, MI, Edwin (Toni) Dehne of Three Oaks, MI and Roger Dehne of Three Oaks, MI; many grand and great grandchildren; and a brother – Clarence (Carol) Dehne of Brighton, MI. He is also preceded in death by a grandson – Nathan Allmand, and two brothers – Ferd and Richard.   A Celebration of Life service will take place on Fri., Feb. 12, 11:00am, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 5791 Sawyer Rd., Sawyer, MI 49125, with Pastor Randy Lett officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, New Buffalo, MI. Visitation is on Thurs., from 5:00-8:00pm at Sommerfeld Chapel, 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI.
