Forrest's Obituary

Forrest ‘Bucky’ Buckingham, 69, of New Buffalo, passed away on Tues., Jan. 1, 2013 at St. Anthony Hospital in Michigan City, IN. Arrangements have been entrusted with Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo, MI.Forrest was born August 16, 1943 in Chicago to Francis and Margaret (Peyton) Buckingham. Forrest and family moved to New Buffalo when he was very young. He attended New Buffalo Schools. Forrest served his country for 24 years while in the U.S. Army retiring in 1986 as Master Sergeant. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Michigan City and was also an avid bowler, golfer and a football fanatic. He is survived by his significant other of 22 years Sharon Kline; two sister-in-laws, Theresa Buckingham of Battle Creek and Maureen Buckingham of Muskegon; and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Forrest in death are his parents-Francis and Margaret, and two brothers-Joseph and Frances ‘Red’ Buckingham.A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sat., Jan. 5, 11:00am, at Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo. Visitation is on Fri., Jan. 4, from 5:00-8:00pm, at the funeral home. Forrest will be laid to rest at Ft. Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI at a later date.
