Margaret Ellan Archer

Margaret E. Archer, 85, formerly of New Buffalo, died on Friday, October 30, 2009 at Jordan's Nursing Home in Bridgman, MI. Arrangements have been entrusted with Sommerfeld-Smith Family Funeral Home of New Buffalo, MI.Margaret was born April 17, 1924 in Birmingham, Alabama, to Zeus and Caroline “Louise” (Wenzel) Bieker. On March 4, 1942 in Tuscumbia, Alabama she married Raymond “Dick” Archer. He preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 1983. Margaret was a member of the Hayes Leonard Homemakers in Valparaiso. She also made many quilts for World Relief. She was a loving mother and grandmother.Margaret is survived by a daughter-LaCrecia (Thomas) Chelf of New Buffalo and a son-Stephen (Sharon) Archer of Wilson, Arkansas; two grandchildren-Chylene (Marvin) Kampenga and Ashley (Brett) Baker; and a sister-Geri McDaniel of Valparaiso, IN. She is preceded in death by her parents-Zeus and Caroline, her husband-Raymond, a daughter-Deborah Archer, brothers-Z.L. Bieker, Jr., Robert Bieker and Leldon Bieker; and a sister-Dorothy Kane. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Monday, Nov. 2, 11:30am(CST) at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso, IN, with Rev. Franz Brandenburg officiating. A time of visitation is prior to the service from 10:00-11:30am(CST) also at Graceland Cemetery. The family has requested to make memorial contributions to your local food pantry.
