Guy E. Mann

Guy E. Mann, Sr., 87, of Three Oaks, Michigan, passed away, Thursday, November 12, 2009 at his home.A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday (Michigan Time) at Sommerfeld-Smith Family Funeral Home, 15 North Barton, New Buffalo. Cremation will follow the service with burial of his ashes at Pine Grove Cemetery in New Buffalo. Friends may call from 3:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. Sunday (Michigan Time) at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Homecare Services, New Buffalo. Guy was born December 18, 1921 in Hamilton County, Illinois to William A. & Bertha (Johnson) Mann. On May 16, 1942 he married the former Marie Kaufman in Piopolis, Illinois. Guy served his country in the United States Army during WWII. He was employed at Tonn & Blank Construction in Michigan City, retiring as Superintendent in 1984. Guy was a member of Three Oaks American Legion Post #204, VFW Post #2536 in Michigan City, and the Carpenter's Union in Laporte.Guy is survived by his children-Patricia (Edward “Buck”) Hanshew of Wichita Falls, TX, William (Maryann) Mann of New Buffalo, Guy (Francine) Mann, Jr. of Union Pier, MI, Jimmy (Sally) Mann of Portage, IN; one grandson Robert (Susan) Liley of New Braunfels, TX; and one great-grandson Andrew Liley, serving in the US Navy, stationed in Japan. Guy was preceded in death by his wife Marie on February 22, 1991, and by several brothers & sisters.
