Joseph's Obituary
Joseph D. Galloro, 73, of New Buffalo, died at his home on Tues., March 9, 2010. Arrangements have been entrusted with Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo.Joseph was born September 20, 1936 in New Buffalo, MI to Phillip and Felicia (Marchese) Galloro. He was a graduate of New Buffalo High School in 1955. On November 23, 1958 in Michigan City, IN he married Linda Krueger. Joseph worked as a sergeant with the New Buffalo Police Department from 1960-1970. He donated his time and was involved in many projects in the New Buffalo area including carnivals & fireworks. Joseph was loved and respected by many in the community. In 1971-1984 he was owner and operator of the Wayside Inn of Union Pier, MI. From 1985-1999 he was a deputy with the Berrien County Sheriff's Department. Joseph enjoyed gardening, cooking, grilling, anything to do with the outdoors, and was a handyman for friends and family. His biggest love was for his family, especially his grandchildren.Joseph is survived by his wife Linda; his son, Brent (Sherry) Galloro of New Buffalo; his three daughters, Felicia (Bob) Sulkowski of Michigan City, Maria (John) Semenchuk of New Buffalo, and Anna (Mark) Shafto of Commerce, MI; seven grandchildren, Kristen, Nicholas, Joseph, Austin, Connor, Nicole and Sarah; and a sister, Victoria (Otto ‘Buck') Hora of New Buffalo. He is preceded in death by his parents-Phillip and Felicia, and a brother-Vito. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Sat., March 13, 11:00am, at St. Mary of the Lake Church, New Buffalo, with Rev. Craig Lusk officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation is on Friday, from 4:00-8:00pm at the Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo. A Scripture Service is also to take place Friday, 7:30pm at the funeral home.
