Otto H. Payne, 77, of Lakeside, MI, passed away on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital of Michigan City, IN. Arrangements have been entrusted with Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo, MI. Otto was born September 23, 1932 in Michigan City, IN to Henry and Olga (Toll) Payne. He served his country while in the US Army during the Korean War. On November 22, 1952 in Michigan City, IN he married Luella May Dalenberg. Otto was a retired sheet metal worker. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and talking with his CB buddies. But most of all he loved his family – especially spending time with his grandchildren and great grandson.Otto is survived by his children, Steven (Julie) Payne of Lakeside, Cynthia (Sam) Lang of Union Pier, and Cheryl Brenda of LaPorte; six grandchildren, Angela(Jason)Pinelli, Ashley(Nathan)White, Patrick, McKayla, Jasmine and Chelsey; a great grandson, Levi; and a sister, Irene Davis of Michigan City. He is preceded in death by his parents-Henry and Olga, his wife-Luella May (1/13/2006), and a son-David (1o/18/2006).A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 23, 11:00am, with Rev. George Lawton officiating, at the Sommerfeld Chapel, 15 N. Barton St., New Buffalo, MI. Burial will follow at Swan Lake Memorial Gardens in Michigan City. Visitation is on Friday, January 22, from 4:00-8:00pm at the funeral home, and also Saturday one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice.
