Grace E. Topp

Grace E. Topp, 93, died on Friday, April 30, 2010 at Hamilton Grove in New Carlisle, IN. Arrangements have been entrusted with the Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo.Grace was born on December 27, 1916 in St. Joseph, MI to Charles and Stephanie (Davis) Glossinger. She was raised in Union Pier and later moved to New Buffalo. Grace graduated from New Buffalo High School in 1935. In 1936 Grace married Charles S. Topp – he was publisher and printer of the weekly newspaper ‘The Sweep'. Charles passed away in 1981. While married they owned and operated the print shop ‘Topp Press' for 50 years. Grace worked as a waitress, salesperson, and everything at the print shop. After Charles died her companion became a red Dachshund named Kristy; they went everywhere for the 15 years of Kristy's life. Grace was a member of St. John United Church of Christ in New Buffalo.Grace and Charles never had children. She is survived by several nephews and nieces, some cousins, and a lot of dear friends. Grace is preceded in death by her parents-Charles and Stephanie, her husband-Charles, her older sister-Aloise, her older brother-LeRoy, and her younger sister-Olive.A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 11:00am at Sommerfeld Chapel, New Buffalo, with Rev. John Peterson officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation is on Tuesday, May 4, from 4:00-7:00pm at the funeral home.
