Eleanor's Obituary

Eleanor V. Skora, died at her home Tuesday, June 15, 2010. Arrangements have been entrusted with Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo, MI.Eleanor was born March 6, 1928 in Michigan City, IN to Joseph and Veronica (Kalita) Krycka. She graduated from New Buffalo High School in 1946. Eleanor was a waitress in various local restaurants throughout the years. She was an avid bingo and card player; she was an accordion player extraordinaire; she loved to sew and do needlepoint; Eleanor was a great cook, and one of her specialties were Santa Claus Cookies; she was very active assisting her daughter in kindergarten classroom activities; she greatly looked forward to once a month going out to lunch with several of her high school classmates that remained friends for many years; Eleanor had many friends, but most of all she loved her family and the many parties they had. She is survived by her children – Janet (Bob) Rodgers of New Buffalo, Thomas (Lori) Skora of Elkhart, IN, and David (Delia) Skora of New Hartford, CT; six grandchildren – Robert, Jennifer, Travis, Collin, Sierra and Kyle; three great grandchildren – Anna, Abigail and Eric; and a brother – Casimer Krycka. Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents-Joseph and Veronica, her husband Walter, five brothers and 3 sisters. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, 11:00am, at St. Mary of the Lake Church, with Father Craig Lusk officiating. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, New Buffalo. Visiting hours are on Thursday from 4:00-8:00pm at Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary of the Lake School.
