Theodosia ‘Teddy' Zabicki, 93, of New Buffalo and Green Valley, AZ, formerly of Lawrence, beloved mother, grandmother and friend, died Tuesday, June 8, 2010, surrounded by her family, at Jordan's Nursing Home, Bridgman, MI. Arrangements have been entrusted with Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo, MI.Teddy Zabicki was born May 2, 1917 in Chicago, IL to Paul and Victoria (Spyhalski) Wlodarczyk. Teddy attended St. Michael's Elementary School on Chicago's south side. While living in Chicago she worked at the Hair Pin Factory, Merchandise Mart and Marshall Fields. Later when they moved their family to Michigan, she worked at Watervliet Community Hospital, Paw Paw Lakeview Hospital and the Van Buren County Health Department as a nurse aid. Teddy married Anthony ‘Tony' Valentine Zabicki, Sr. at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Chicago's South side, on April 27, 1946. They had been friends since they were 5 years old. Married almost 59 years, they shared many wonderful memories, including their children – Claudia (Stephen) Henson of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, Anthony (Sylvia Bencomo) Zabicki of Phoenix, AZ, Judith (David Handley) Zabicki of New Buffalo, MI, and Neal Zabicki of Flint, MI; four grandchildren – Stephanie Henson, Casey and Dana Handley and Neal Zabicki; brothers – Bernard (Rosemary) Wlodarczyk of Stoney Lake, IL, Dennis (Loretta) Wlodarczyk of Hegewich, IL and Conrad (Maryanne) Wlodarczyk of Cottage Grove, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one son – Nicholas Zabicki, and sisters – Irene Robbins and Armella Vetrovec.Teddy was a member of the Lawrence Lioness Club, Battle Creek Purple Heart Lady's Auxiliary, and Lady of the Valley Catholic Church, Green Valley, AZ. She loved her family, work, farm, friends, traveling and living in Arizona with her husband and dog Freckles.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Sat., June 12, 11:30 a.m., at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 5760 Sawyer Rd., Sawyer, MI with the Rev. Don Suberlak officiating. Visitation will precede the service from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo, 15 N. Barton Street. Final resting place will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, IL. Memorial contributions may be made to Berrien County Cancer Service, 7301 Red Arrow Hwy, Stevensville, MI 49127.
