John George Gorbonosenko

John G. Gorbonosenko, 55, of New Buffalo, died at his home on Thursday, September 23, 2010. Arrangements have been entrusted with Sommerfeld Chapel of New Buffalo.John was born April 26, 1955 in Chicago to Dimitri and Katerina Gorbo. He was a heavy equipment operator by profession and worked for Oselka Construction Company as well as Whittaker Woods Golf Course. John was a member of the Polish National Alliance; he raced go-carts for Michiana Raceway; and he loved to golf.John is survived by his wife-Barbara; step-children-Brian (Margaret) Wilkie of Pineville, GA, Christopher (Larissa) Wilkie of New Buffalo and Dawn Smith of Blaine, MN; seven step-grandchildren-Megan, Ashley, Courtney, Nichole, Christopher, Liam and Morrigan; brother-Eugene Gorbo of LaPorte, IN; sister-Maria Gorbo of Colorado; several nephews and nieces; and his best friends-Ricky and Pat Huffman. A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 28, 11:00am, with Father Craig Lusk officiating, at Sommerfeld Chapel in New Buffalo. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery. Visitation is two hours prior to the service – from 9:00-11:00am, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Lakeland Hospice.
